About the project

UAB Derota, together with Lithuanian and foreign partners and with EU support, is implementing a project from November 1, 2024, to October 30, 2026, aimed at young people aged 15–29 who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

Project number: ESF-SI-2023-SKILLS-01-0034 Empower Emerge: Unlock Potential of NEETs by Creating Opportunities

Funding: Provided under the ESF+ Social Innovations Plus initiative.

Project GOAL – to bring NEET youth “into the light of day” by applying innovative, unconventional, green-course methods to engage them, help them discover themselves, spark curiosity, boost their self-confidence and self-esteem by uncovering, recognizing, and highlighting their individual strengths, show them opportunities to gain new knowledge, and support and accompany them every step of the way toward integration into the labor market.

Project description

The project is aimed at young people aged 15–29 living in the municipalities of Elektrėnai and Trakai who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

The “EmpowerEmerge” project seeks to increase the employability of vulnerable youth by implementing a personalized career guidance program consisting of two parts – “Indoor” and “Outdoor.”

The “Indoor” program includes a cycle of lectures and experiments in nature covering psychological preparation for work, assessment of existing skills, identification and strengthening of personal strengths, correcting thinking errors, communication and teamwork, stress and conflict management, and the importance of personal image.

With the help of a stylist, each participant’s personal image will be improved and developed to boost self-confidence, encourage, and motivate them to move forward.

The “Outdoor” program is a set of nature-based activities built on innovative methods that have been practically tested and proven effective by Irish partners. Learning is achieved through adventure therapy activities in nature: hikes and experiences with dogs, leisure park entertainment, and sports. Participants will also be motivated through discussions with entertainment industry representatives about learning, work, and achieving goals.

The training is based on the idea of experiential and problem-based learning – education and learning in nature, broader exploration of the surrounding world through joint activities, and informal communication with trainers, psychologists, lecturers, and well-known figures from the entertainment industry.

This innovative social model creates a more dynamic and engaging learning environment that encourages youth participation, highlights and strengthens their existing skills, and helps them gain new knowledge and experiences. It also aims to enhance participants’ self-esteem and interpersonal skills through a sense of community and to inspire the desire to take action – to study or seek employment.

During the project, NEET youth will be invited to participate in FREE, interesting, and innovative activities.

  • The first group of 15 participants will be recruited by June 23, 2025, and will take part in FREE activities in July and August 2025.
  • The second group of 15 participants will be recruited by 2026 and will take part in FREE activities in July and August 2026.

In total, 30 NEET youth will have the opportunity to participate in activities free of charge.

Project activities will take place in Lithuania and Poland.

The project partner, MAŁOPOLSKA WOJEWÓDZKA KOMENDA OHP, will train 15 NEET youth in Poland during the project period based on the developed innovative “Outdoor” program.

Expected results:
The project aims to involve 45 NEET youth in activities to promote their integration into the labor market or education (30 in Lithuania and 15 in Poland).
